congratulations to carly patterson! she’s so cute and so talented. and i love how she actually acts and talks like a 16-year-old. you know how all these child actors and athletes are so articulate for their age. i find it refreshing to hear a 16-year-old actually talking like a teen. the best was when the reporter asked her what she was thinking when svetlana khorkina was performing her floor exercise, and carly bit her lip and looked embarrassed. you know she was thinking, “fall, evil russian girl, fall!” haha, go team USA!

why is it that I consistently see americans, e.g. Carly, being so gracious and pc, and then people from other countries, e.g. Russia, being totally rude ?! (c.f. my blog). I'm sure Carly was thinking some not-so-rosy things about the russian girl, but at least she had the constraint to maintain her poise and be polite. That's far nobler than some "diva" spouting off and blaming her "loss" (it's a SILVER, for crying out loud) on a political agenda.
I've always considered Americans one of the more whiny groups of people in the world, but this Olympics proves that ANYONE (at the expense of others, no less) will tout an excuse for why they "lost".
